Plugs fouling out

I installed Headman Headers on the 327 Cu in Small Block in my 1979 Camaro. While doing so I replaced the plugs with a shorty, Accel 576S plug to obtain more clearance between plugs and headers. Ever since the car has been running rough and the number 2 and 7 cylinder plugs have been gas fouling out causing missing and occasional back fire on acceleration. The original plugs were Delco R45t. So is this the problem? Do I need to go back to OEM plugs?

Perhaps they aren't in the correct heat range or need to be gapped down a little. What are they gapped to now?

The gap was .030 and I have a Mallory Hy Fyre Ignition. I am replacing them with ACR44 Plugs gapped to .040

Then you should gap them at 040-45
