Hi everyone, I'm Andy. I've owned a 1972 SS 396 (402 c.i.) Camaro since 1982. It was on the road as my daily driver for about four years. During that time I purchased a parts car and built that engine for running in my car. After about 10,000 miles it had a catastrophic failure. Life events prevented me fixing it at that time so the car went into storage. Years went by, family grew, I would end up moving the Camaro along with us about four times in the past 38 years. I've been fortunate to have secure, no-cost indoor storage for most of that time. I'm now in a position to pick up the pieces and get this car back on the road. During this time I have made a couple other builds, acquiring the skills, tools and connections to take on this project with confidence. I'm working with an excellent local machinist. He is willing to offer advice and is cool with me just stopping by to hang out and jump in to lend a hand with whatever he happens to be in the middle of at the time. He's got my block all fixed up and I'm accumulating parts and pieces the finish the assembly. I know I'll need to rebuild and/or freshen up other components in addition to the engine like the transmission (TH400), brakes, fuel system, electrical, etc. before this car will be ready to go.
Thanks for allowing me to join Z28.com. I look forward to the help and support I hope to find here to apply to my project.
