95 lt1 ecm reprogramming?

I wouldn't be surprised if this is ignored but i got a 95 lt1 ecm out of a firebird at the junkyard and its bricked. For fun I want to learn how to reprogram one of these or try to repair it from being bricked.

Doing tests at home it turns on its MIL but will not respond for inputs or outputs. 5V refs and serial data line comes up to 5V but nothing happens when the output enable is grounded. What makes me think its bricked was its a v8 car, no crash damage but engine was taken out but all its harness was left behind, when usually its taken along with.

To do what you are asking, and hook up any type of scanner or programing software you would have to find pin out for ECM and wire in OBD connector properly.

Then apply proper power and grounds.

Without all the sensors hooked up you will get a bunch of codes though, so if you were going to try this it'd be best to have a harness and sensors or dummy sensors.

If it was left behind after an engine was removed you can't guarantee it is junk. Easiest way, you would have to put it in a known running car to see how it works.

Some people don't know to pull that stuff with the engine

plug it into another 95 camaro get tunerpro rt and ee hack and flash hack then goto http://gearhead-efi.com/
download a stock 95 bin file load it on the ecm and see if it works

    MAY102021.bin
you can try this bin its for my 95 not sure if it works attaching it here but its a stock bin you just might need to change the vin and the key pass which you can do in tuner pro rt

    Hello @Craigthepony

The 95 PCM is OBD1 even though it has the OBD2 ALDL connector. If you are using an OBD2 scanner, it will not communicate. You can try getting an OBD1 USB connector and jumper it. I have also linked below a cable that you can use (I own the OBD1 & OBD2 cable, works good) as it's already jumped.

    Cable: https://obd2allinone.com/products/aldlobd2u.asp

    How to jumper the cables.
