I went ahead and got the first Camaro that I found, but now I would love to hear other people's opinions here about which is the best model year.

Although the 94 and 95 and very close, the 95 has a vented opti stock, as well as other upgrades, and is the last model year with an OBD-I PCM.

yeah I've done that upgrade after burning through two optis, no problems since 2001

Thanks for all your replies. It's great to see that a lot of people think that their car is the best model... LOL. :D Now that I think about it, mine seems pretty good too...

Depends on what you mean by best.

Fastest. Quickest. Best handling. Best looking. Best 4th gen

I happen to be very fond of the 95 model year...

Well, I firmly believe that the 97 is best.It has the good looking first era front end- and I personally like the second era interior. And a touch more powerful lt1.I like the more "old school" sound and feel of the lt1.

Of course they are ALL really great cars.

IMO, this is a loaded question. A true car person will like something about all models. Except for the 5th and 6th gens which are pretty much identical. Reminds me of the Porch 911. Very little change between any of the years.

yes! The sound of that LT1, I prefer over the sound of my LS3

I won't get into which is the best out of all of them, but as a general statement it is usually the last couple of years before any big changes that they are the "most improved."* Like 01-02, 96-97, etc. --- except perhaps the 2nd gen, halfway through their run smog laws kicked and horsepower went down.

*This excludes special edition models made throughout a production run.

Nice looking ride Zane! Love the convertible...2 many hardtops hahaha.
Hard for me to say which year is best, however i can tell you the stock 97 engine is rather interesting.

My '96 SS still makes me smile every time I take her out. I love the sound of the exhaust and with the 4:10 gears she can get there in a hurry. It is always tempting to kick the back end out coming out of the turns. I don't see many 96-97 SS's on the streets these days so she always gets compliments. And what's not to like about t-tops which you can't get with the 5th and 6th gen.

Well, while I admire the sound of my lt1- you'll be gone!

My modified LT1 is actually faster off the line then my LS3, but you are 100 percent right. :)

Funny thing about it, ask any enthusiast which one is best and you'll get one of two answers: the one I have and the one I want.

    Reminds me of handheld tuners.

Bob: "Hey John, which tuner is the best?"
    John: "The one I bought."

95 is a good year cuz cars came with the vented opti. Also it was the last obd1 year so only one cat to worry about. And although 96's had ten more horsepower they also had two cats which i've heard didn't really give the car a power advantage over the previous years.

97 is also a good year cuz you got the newer interior with more cup holders and day time running lights. Although I've noticed that the 97-02 leather seats don't seem to hold up as well as the 93-96. In the camaro's anyway.
